The Unique Analog Sound of Neve-Style Diode-Bridge Compression

features

Introduced in 1969, the 2254 compressor had an unmistakably fat, textured sound. No opto, no FET, no VCA: The V-Comp models the 2254’s diode-bridge gain technology and triple-transformer design, at the component level, to deliver the richest bus compressor/limiter sound used in the 60s and 70s.

In addition to classic compression, even with dynamics turned off, V-Comp adds the inimitable personality of analog processing—and coats your digital audio with a veneer of yesterday’s mojo.

  • Compressor and limiter, faithful to the 2254 bus processor
  • Models the thick, rich, textured sound of three audio transformers
  • Four analog characters, even with compression off
  • Switchable option to turn the compressor into a de-esser
  • Straightforward operation makes it easy to dial in the right sound
  • 37 presets from world-class mixing engineers

Rich, Textured Compression for Silky Smooth Vocals—and Beyond

  • Harness the Textured Tone of Transformers

Give vocals and other tracks the tactile texture they need: This transformer-modeled compressor doesn’t just compress levels—it’s got character. The design of the original gear—winding coils around a heavy metal core—creates extra low-frequency harmonics when saturated, a huge factor contributing to the classic analog sound.

    Features: Glue Mixes without “Squashing”
  • Fat Compression on Individual Tracks or Masters

Slam the input for more compression, rock the ratio control, and choose Auto or fixed release. Whether to fatten up individual tracks or glue mixes together at the master bus, V-Comp delivers the rich analog sound of half a century ago.

    Features:
  • Legendary Limiting for Your Master Bus

A complete limiting section, with threshold, attack, and release, offers an alternative for aggressive control of bass, drums, and compete buses.

    Features: Fast and Efficient Operation
  • Extra Analog Mojo

Even with no compression or limiting activated, the V-Comp imparts analog warmth and character to any signal path. The analog switch adds three different flavors of noise, or turn off to keep only the harmonic distortion.

Features: From Vocals to “The Ringo Drum Sound”
